Druid

Though fur is gradually being banned and replaced with other materials, there are still tribes in the remote Nordic regions that wear special fur clothing for their festivities, dressing up as the “Wild Man”. They are out of touch with the world, yet deeply connected to nature and still play a role in today's society. This collection looks at the history, production and properties of fur, coming up with sustainable alternatives - which take into consideration other natural materials - and techniques to replace it. These solutions are combined with zoomorphian aesthetics and integrated in menswear design, creating a conversation between nature and fashion.

Motivation

It's wonderful to have fresh, creative minds driven by passion, curiosity, and dedication. They listened attentively, engaged thoughtfully, and asked intelligent, professional questions that inspired us even more as we shared the details of our daily work. We would love to have more opportunities for exchanges like this within the company.

Rewarding Honours powered by Fondazione Ferragamo

Motivation

The use of natural materials, in particular felt, the timeless elegance and the multi-style approach, perfectly in tune with the Ferragamo heritage.

Project selection motivation

The jury got excited by Yifan's approach to a relevant challenge - the use of fur, faux fur and sustainable materials - in a beautiful and elegant way. By using alternative materials, all quite traditional but rethought and re-imagined to ignite our brains to think about an alternative to fur using the medium of fashion, Yifan was able to create a cohesive, but highly narrative collection in just a few looks that everyone agreed was a smart and effective solution that didn't forgo beauty.
