Lactic Acid

Meret's film, entitled “Lactic Acid”, features her accessories collection, that explores the definition of strength and its relationship with softness through the lens of a personal journey. The seemingly heavy, masculine objects in “Lactic Acid” are in fact lightweight and traditionally associated with femininity. The work challenges surface-level expectations of strength and plays with gender norms.

Boldly defying convention through creative thinking, leaving the viewer perplexed for example as to why she chose a forest setting, this is a film that rethinks the aesthetics of fitness with a creative, low-budget twist. It juxtaposes traditional workouts with a surprising breakaway that unleashes a quirky and playful weirdness, perfectly in tune with the quirkiness of her accessories collection. The contemporary narrative—featuring women and queer characters transforming gym gear into chic accessories—redefines norms and celebrates fearless design.

Motivation

Boldly defying convention through creative thinking- leaving the viewer asking questions such as why a forest setting was chosen- this film reimagines fitness aesthetics with a creative, low-budget twist. It juxtaposes traditional workouts with a surprising disruption that unleashes ironic, playful weirdness. Which is perfectly in tune with the irony of her accessories collection. The contemporary narrative—featuring idiosyncratic women and queer characters transforming gym gear into chic accessories—redefines norms and celebrates modern, fearless design.
