Ching-Lin Chen

Because of covid-19 Ching-Lin was unable to see his parents for almost 2 years. To connect with them he asked them to send him memories about their past. Looking at wedding photos and reading their love letters helped make an intimate connection although they were apart. Using the plain weave technique as a fundamental development process, he metaphorically “weaved” himself into their past. The rectangular shape of the letter paper and photos inspired him to experiment with rectangular pieces of fabric for patterns, cutting holes in specific points and moving them back and forth across the body to find shapes. This is a wedding collection integrating geometrical elements and soft volumes.
