technical description

A piece of the 'jewel-shoe-jewel' collection of shoes, whose components can become independent pieces of jewellery, emphasising a multitude of theories and artists who reflect on the issue of mass production versus craftmanship. Vegetable tanned leather upper with biscotto leather lining. Cuir sole with a steel shaft where to insert the jewellery. Jewellery made of hexagonal steel plates in various dimensions, with engraved plywood details and screws.

concept

This is a transformable footwear project that incorporates a jewellery collection. Including four pairs of high heels with one upper design, eight heel designs and eight jewellery designs. Each heel is made up detachable components that can be re-assembled into jewellery pieces. The heel-tops are replaceable and can be screwed into jewellery pieces as symbolic gems. An open-ended design system that permits wearer to indulge in endless interaction. Filtering through ideas from Pepe Heykoop's iconic, playful wood brick chair, Damien Hirst's diamond skull and Zaha Hadid's Dubai architecture (inspiring a design of something extremely loud and technical but in non-precious and changeable materials) and also Le Corbusier's "La Cite Radieuse" in Marseille (which made her re-think the value of Modernism and of mass production versus craftsmanship).
