technical description

Contrast printed ocher wool bolero featuring short ruffled sleeves, a geometric snap-buttoned collar, matching wool sleeve-shaped back tails with plastic buttons, and a jacquard silk lining. Worn over a pleated silk satin sleeveless top with a soft neckline, contrasting coloured stripe band, back buttoning and a matching hem. Asymmetrical striped cotton skirt with black leather high basque featuring tailored and buttoned adjustable straps.

concept

Tamar admired her grandmother’s collection of old luggage labels from the 50s and 60s, and researched their history. It took her back to the early 20th century Edwardian era, to the ritual of packing and the intimate ceremony a woman goes through when facing her wardrobe to decide which garments will travel with her. The cuts of her outfits reflected the feeling of having clothes stacked or hanging. It led to the creation of surprising layers: a jacket worn as a skirt, tailored sleeves coming out of shoulder blades and a coat which looked as if a woman had worn it with the hanger still inside. Suitcase hardware - handles, studs, hinges and clasps - turned into details, with references to the luggage labels that inspired the collection.
