Designer Patrick Taylor, sourcing autobiographical memories, explores the duality of childhood through the lens of family sports like skiing and sailing. His knitwear collection contrasts the intensity and competition with the freedom and joy these activities bring. Nostalgic hues and soft textures evoke memories of his own childhood, with serene, muted tones enhanced by vibrant bursts of colour, inspired by vivid red sails against the dull sea and sky. The silhouettes highlight the pressures children face growing up, balancing structured and playful elements, and inviting wearers to embrace life’s adventures with joy and excitement.

The OTB Group will offer a training day visit of the headquarters of OTB and Staff International will be offered to the young designers who will be able to see first-hand the production stages of the garments and accessories of the Group’s brands.

Rewarding Honours powered by Modateca Deanna

Modateca Deanna offers an exclusive one-week experience at Modateca Deanna, where the designer will have the opportunity to conduct research at the Modateca’s archives and delve deeper into knitwear techniques. The designer will also have the chance to visit some of the leading yarn mills, knitting factories, and workshops in the area, exploring all the key stages involved in bringing a creative idea to life. Modateca Deanna will cover travel and accommodation and company visits costs.

Motivation

He presented himself as a knitwear designer. He is the perfect candidate to further explore the world of knitwear, deepening his knowledge in materials, stitches, and techniques by meeting some of the most important makers in Italy and learning through the vast experience on the subject that Modateca Deanna has.

Rewarding Honours powered by Pitti Tutoring & Consulting

Pitti Tutoring & Consulting Special Experience includes a 6-months mentorship program of Tutoring & Consulting activities, such as support in defining and establishing one’s brand and/or identifying and analyzing the most suitable career path for the winning designer. Meetings (via video call or in-person) will take place every two weeks to assess progress and equip the designer with valuable experience, enabling them to approach their career in the best possible way.

He masterfully explores childhood through evocative knitwear. Nostalgic colours, dynamic silhouettes, and vivid contrasts create a compelling narrative, inviting wearers to embrace both structure and playfulness while capturing the emotional depth of personal memories.

Project selection motivation

The jury appreciated Patrick's playfulness, use of eye-catching colours and palette and silhouettes to create a collection that brought memories of our own childhood trips back in languid ways. To have such a clear and precise approach to menswear, while ultimately imbuing clothes with a lot of joy, is exactly what fashion needs today and Patrick had that in spades.
