The Alter Ego
As we keep modifying our bodies through biotechnology to meet social norms of gender behaviour, the line between human and machine becomes increasingly blurred. This raises important questions about how our 'post-gender identity' will be expressed in a world where humans exist as cyborg objects. Through the combination of fashion communication, voguing ballroom culture, motion capture and CGI moving images, digital designers Yu Chen and Fanrui Sun explore the potential for new paradigms of post-identity. If cyborgs stand at the intersection of humanity and technology, how can we challenge traditional notions of identity and gender through fashion? One solution could be a 'post-gender' identity that breaks down the old gender binary system. By creating a post-gender utopia where individuals' alter egos can exist as pure cognition, Yu and Fanrui explore new boundaries dissolving the limits of the gender binary.

Award Motivation
This work challenges the boundaries between humans and machines and explores the concept of "post-gender identity" in a world where technology and humanity merge. The fusion of fashion, motion capture, and CGI makes this project a dynamic and thought-provoking experience. The idea of a "post-gender utopia" and "seven days rituals" for pure cognition is a daring and liberating concept. What impressed us most is the great visual language of this piece. It's not just digital fashion; it's an immersive journey into a future where identity knows no bounds.
