Borderless Creativity: Students Transform Forgotten Garments into Sustainable Fashion
20 January 2025
Students are now embarking on the phase of the project dedicated to creating an original outfit, where creativity meets sustainability. Split into groups, participants are tasked with selecting an unused garment from their wardrobe to transform, rethink, deconstruct, and reassemble, with the goal of creating a new collective outfit and initiating a virtuous and creative upcycling process.
Before cutting and sewing, the process will begin with discussions and exchanges of ideas. Reflecting on and drawing inspiration from the geographical and historical boundaries of our shared territory, as well as more personal and abstract ones—tangible and intangible which will then be organized and compiled into a group mood board dedicated to Borderless, the theme of the project. Students will then rework old garments, giving new life to forgotten clothes and fabrics.
Through this shared journey, each group will have the opportunity to design and create a new, original outfit where fashion, creativity, and ecological awareness come together. Guided by the new skills acquired through the tutors and workshops at ITS Arcademy, the students will tell stories of new possibilities, innovation, and respect for the environment.
