Lull; The Sleep Temple

2024-qianhan-liu-fashion
technical description

Recycled, printed and treated leather turtleneck inspired by East Coast preppy style chunky knitwear, with traditional East Asian fabric drapery. Oversized sweater made of leather offcuts, laser cut into the shape of fallen leaves and stitched by hand on a mesh structure.

concept

This collection was conceived as a journey of healing and understanding. A philosophy of peace, sobriety and equality outlining a utopian lifestyle and a yearning for wellness. It draws parallels between two unreachable, over-marketed ideas of the “East”, two nirvanas of stereotypical uniqueness: the generous tailoring of the one-piece cuts, easy jerseys and chunky knitwear of the American East Coast preppy style, and the drapery of the natural textures of the East Asian temple tradition. T-shirts and coats twist like knotted tunics, recycled leather is printed and treated to become antiqued wood, and thousands of fallen leaves - each one laser cut from leather offcuts, singed and stitched by hand - envelop an oversized sweater.
