concept

ASMR is a physical reaction that is characterised by a tingling sensation and a sense of low-grade euphoria. Commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, it has risen to extreme popularity thanks to social media and its ability to provide the new generations with a tool to fight off digital stress and relax. Designer Tal Maslavi looks at how modern life exists on the border between the physical and the virtual, compromising our ability to touch and feel. This is also due to the devices through which we experience life, which are becoming sleeker, smoother and less tactile. In this collection that rubs shoulders with performance art, he examines the human need for physical touch and interaction, as if grasping onto a reality that appears to be gradually fading away, and questions the ease with which we have expropriated our senses in the transition to digital life.
