technical description

Long pleated nightgown with a lenticular effect. Lenticular prints depicting florals and a vintage poster. The nightgown is worn with a dark green puffer inspired by military parka references. The puffer has an oversized scarf that becomes a detachable hood creating a cocoon silhouette.

concept

The starting point for this collection is a picture of Petra’s grandmother. This project is all about the women in her family, whom she has always held their strength and spirit in admiration. While researching family photos she found a picture of her grandmother in soviet military parachuting gear, discovering that she had been a parachutist in her youth. The “flying grandmother” concept is about resilience and grace: Petra’s family history is complicated, but there was a lot of beauty in the lives of the women that raised her. Her project is also a testimony to the history of soviet women.
