concept

Tara's fashion design project is a contemporary and performative expression of her own life. Using each of the 5 cities where she lived, to create performances, moods, textiles and visual narratives. Her body of work consists of a unisex mix of movement and craftsmanship. The starting point for this collection was extracting memories from these 5 cities - Baghdad, Sheffield, Manchester, London and NYC - then creating textiles and techniques from each one of them. Through the design process she used herself as blank canvas, enacting performances, then shooting and deriving inspiration to develop shape and silhouette ideas. Tara designs for all bodies, with no gender-specific identification.
