concept

Created through a process of picking cotton, spinning, weaving, embroidery, dipping through natural dyes, two years’ work and prolonged hammering, the Dong traditional cloth is the essence of a nation with a millenary history. It has been sustainably produced by the Dong community in southern China for thousands of years and stands at the core of Kin Yan's project. In addition, the design methodology focuses on the translation of packaging techniques and systems into pattern cutting, to create innovative menswear silhouettes. Sustainability, craftsmanship and exploring new interpretations of traditional craft with support of modern technology are the foundations of Kin Yan's work.
