Natural dyed and painted black denim asymmetrical collarless jacket with bag side pockets, a waistline string and oblique shoulder strap. Paired with oversized black denim cargo jeans with a contrasting waist panel, belt and knee bag pockets, and long-sleeved black lycra turtleneck sweater.

In an effort to redefine the concept of modernity, with a focus on frugality and conservation, this design project is a reflection of the utility and resourcefulness of African cultures. Cameron Williams, staying true to his design roots of inspiration, aims to embody the natural essence of style and utility that are part of the everyday culture and lives of these people. Taking inspiration from ethnic groups such as the Nuba and Surma of Eastern Africa and the Wodaabe of West Africa, this collection of ideas brings the ingenuity and natural way of clothing and transporting ourselves to an up-cycled denim outfit. Infusing these references he has created a functional yet cultured combination of silhouette and texture. This project explores the pairing of up-cycled denim and jeans stems with other up-cycled fabrics and offcuts, as well as traditional sustainable African textiles created using indigenous techniques, like the Ugandan Bark Cloth.
