concept

One of the prominent phenomena in ultra-Orthodox Judaism is life in the shadow of silencing. Children and teenagers are being sexually abused and raped every day, and their voices will not be heard. As a child who grew up in an ultra-Orthodox family, Aharon was educated in Torah studies. It was the high-grade rabbi who decided to cherish him and make him his Chavruta (learning companion) every evening. On one of those evenings, during the learning, Aharon felt deep suffocation. The rest can be assumed. His collection reflects the profound emotional journey he has been through, from the eyes of a child who has undergone shock, revenge and acceptance. His work symbolises his daily pledge to fulfil the eleventh commandment: Thou shall not be silenced.
