Broken and repaired
Born into a family of traditional roof repair craftsmen, reusing and repairing come as second nature to Hana Yagi. A collection that speaks about her past as well as her Japanese roots, with outfits made from everyday materials such as paper, clay and old fabrics. Applying “Urushi” on garments, the traditional Japanese finishing technique that solidifies materials adding a mystical gloss on the surface, with hints of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by using Urushi and gold dust. The collection portfolio arrived with handcrafted dolls wearing scaled down prototypes of outfits.
