concept

The designs were developed while working as a nurse at a psychiatric hospital, based around the idea of outfits that could "communicate with the unseen world” which is often a reality for who suffers from a mental illness. The research led to exploring spirituality, this is why the silhouettes are inspired by Japanese shamanistic aesthetics. They are created entirely by using a 3D doodler pen. This enabled the structuring of pieces to be worn as both outfits and necklaces that appear to be detached from the body as if floating in mid-air. A visual representation of the “wandering spirits”, believed to be unstable spirits of the living which are bound to go away if left undisturbed.
