concept

Bulgarian traditional costumes meet 80s rock climbing. A stark contrast, providing an array of clashing elements but also uncovers overlapping similarities. A powerful mix fusing into a coherent collection: bringing together the vivid colours, metal decorations and strong graphic qualities. Antique Bulgarian textiles are contrasted with climbing hardware and synthetic fabrics to modernise folkloric details. They become pleated skirts suspended from the body, hanging from harnesses, ropes or in layers from carabineers, but also create detachable elements.
