2016-chinami-tokizawa-bodypiece-2
technical description

A series of urethane gel pastel coloured flowers which together form abstract-shaped poetic sticky ‘plaster’ jewellery.

Size 200x125x10mm, 68 gr., 2016

concept

What if band-aids were pretty? Could they turn into something that is fashionable instead of just functional? A jewelry collection developed from this concept, looking at medical materials and applications and finding ways to translate them into pieces. Exploring urethane gel - widely used in the medical field and harmless to the skin - became a key material in items. Each piece is adhesive and can be applied anywhere on the body just as if it were a band-aid, transforming it into a skin decoration that can be attached and re-attached elsewhere. Giving complete freedom to the wearer with endless possibilities and combinations. By re-defining daily routines Chinami hopes to propose a different approach, allowing people to enjoy fashion as they please.
