concept
You can find your love by kissing a frog king, but remember to brush your teeth before. In one sentence, Anna Bornhold takes us inside the world of her collection: Romanticism, childhood, fairytale and a dreamy lighthearted atmosphere are all captured in the collection title. But even without a title the technique developed for the fabrics of the garments grasp the concept: using material like words. She devised a threading technique she calls "unfussy embroidery" where the threads are laid over linen as if they were colours in a painting, to create a canvas fabric on which is actually "painted" to mimic any kind of material - denim, cordura, leather… It creates a trompe l'oeil effect that evokes playful, youthfulness, love and lightness of spirit. This is a love story told through materials and emotions as well as humour. A collection to be shared with one’s own partner, perhaps as a sign of true love.
