Jaws of Glory

2015-sonja-iglic-necklace
technical description

Red leather neck brace shaped necklace embellished with a riveted framework. The piece is composed of golden metal and features multiple apertures with fringed metal edges evoking eyes or carnivorous plant mouths which open to reveal repoussé lettering that lists the six deadly sins: pride, greed, lust, envy, wrath and sloth. This piece itself embodies the seventh deadly sin - gluttony.

Size 310x300x300mm, 370 gr., 2015, with a white fitted case

concept

Addressing a fundamental question: should we all be winners? With all of its good sides the technological era has brought a lot of bad things too. It might be possible tp contact anyone and visit any place on earth, but this comes at a price: huge worldwide competition. The stronger the competition, the harder people have to fight, sometimes for mere survival. Convinced that the technological boom has accelerated our transformation into true predators interested only in ourselves. A collection aimed at showing how this vicious circle looks, highlighting the stages of transformation. We could stop at each of these stages, but we don’t.
