Padded tie-dyed Shibori-treated patchwork cotton satin jacket with a contrasting buttonless neckline and block colour satin lining. Platinum lurex trousers with curved gold laminated python inlays, a front zip closure and ergonomic shapes. Tie-dyed Shibori-treated cotton spats with hand-pleated micro appliqués and natural Mongolian fur inserts.

concept

Looking at the contrast of rigid functionality of military flight suits crossed with the soft beauty of Japanese aesthetics. Variety within a delimited framework is typical in traditional Japanese art. This inspired Elina to create rules and restrictions for herself, in order to explore the subject further. All patterns of garments are based on a single Russian flight suit, but on top there is a mix of elaborated shibori-dye (an ancient Japanese dyeing technique), applied pleating, hand-woven fabrics and knotted tassels. The goal was to create three-dimensional and straggly surfaces that give a sense of calmness and primitive chaos.
