2013-rayya-valerie-morcos-necklace
technical description

Necklace featuring a sculptural design composed of a series of vari-shaped gold plated copper panels fitted together with a snick system forming a three-dimensional look-a-like fish bone necklace.

Size 350x125x190mm, 480 gr., 2013

concept

With education roots and passion in architecture. Rayya’s creative process tends to proceed by building in a three-dimensional, structural way rather than designing. In this collection she looks at feminine parts of the woman's body like the neck and shoulders giving them center stage. They are interpreted from a skeletal point of view, making them look as if they were fish bones or a ribcage. Vertical sheets of laser cut copper or wood transform an organic sensual shape into a structured edgy mould. Disturbingly beautiful, with a masochistic pinch stirred in.
