2012-marius-janusauskas-dress-01
technical description

Soft silk and cotton treatment with natural soil that creates a decay pattern on the textile surface. Hand-pleated dress inspired by couturier Madame Grès, artistic cutouts inspired by sculptor Pablo Atchugarry. Hospital gown style closing on the back, asymmetric shoulderline and candle-burned hemline to create a dramatic effect.

concept

The fairytale of Sleeping Beauty, horror movies, work of Madame Grès and sculptures by Pablo Atchugarry, distilled in a collection about the idea of deference. Designer Marius Janusauskas depicts the story of a perfectly passive woman who remains motionless throughout an era. Her vital colours are vanishing. She is turning into an undead. The only sign of life is her blood, running through the stitches of her garments. She is trapped in time. Time pleated into the front of her clothes. Her back is cold, minimal, clinical.
