Forgotten sceneries - Hujialou

2009-saana-wang-photo-01.jpg
concept

In the district of Hujialou in Beijing, China, Saana let her eyes wander in old rooms, in apartments above the street level, in unfamiliar and peculiar scenes. Is this a landscape that will soon disappear with the changes brought on by the future? Wall structures reveal the hidden layers of time, the signs that someone lived here in the past, the signs of unknown families. Saana blended in to become a part of the scenery, looking at the silent change in contemporary life, capturing still moments of ordinary people, and Change with a capital C, that rules the landscape and life. She wants to grab moments living on the border between fiction and documentary.
