Quentin wanted to discuss people's lifestyle and display in a surreal way the subtle relationship between people and nations. Portraying memories of the Mao period when everybody wore the same white shirts and green military pants. It was a time of faith, sunshine and flowers. So the young models are amongst bunches of flowers. They are about to leave their college campus, sad and lonely because of farewells. What they are actually leaving is faith and collectivism to start a totally new and strange journey they are unaware of.
