technical description

Shoes challenging the common perception of footwear through unusual materials and compositions. Shoes made of laser-cut wood veneer, printed leather and weaved acrylic that resemble a piece of wearable wood, with green and red veins, front patchwork and suede lining. References from nature are mixed with patterns and colours borrowed from graffiti and street culture.

concept

Driven to creating an experience in the way the shoe opens and closes and playing with the concept of wearable wood by using real wood and fake wood. The viewer automatically qualifies the unreal as real. The natural element ‘wood’ becomes an illusion to the wearer. What you see in this case isn’t what you think it is. Inspiration was also taken from Juultje's surroundings: the patterns come from bricks on buildings and the colours are inspired by graffiti and street culture.
