concept
The fusion of tailoring and engineering. An idea developed through working with other disciplines, utilising non-conventional footwear materials to create a structure that has strength and a unique aesthetic. Whilst learning the process of making a tailored jacket and combining materials such as metal, wood and plastic to provide an element of support and structure. Looking at silhouettes and designers like Pierre Cardin and Balenciaga for inspiration as well as referencing architecture and principles of structure. Chau wanted to experiment with different materials that would provide the strength and flexibility needed in a shoe as well as give a modern and sophisticated feel.
