Black cotton satin tailcoat jacket featuring notch lapels, shaped cuffs, a fake front button, satin lining and trompe l'oeil waistcoat buttoning edged with contrasting piping. Striped cotton poplin shirt with a contrasting white collar and cuffs, a double front pocket, white buttoning, shoulder straps and wool-cotton trousers with double symmetrical front buttoning, a shaped hem and a maxi front pleat with ribbing.

concept

Navigating the conflict between adapting to society’s rules and living out individual needs. The outfits are inspired by uniforms and men's fashion from the end of the 19th century, which were dictated by precise rules that are subtly broken. Alice's collection is full of hidden messages and symbols conveyed through prints, techniques, colours and fabric. For instance, the inside of the armlets feature extracts from Rainer Maria Rilke's poems, the lyrics expressing the soul of the person who wears the jacket. The silhouettes are also breaking the formal rules: some are narrow, slim, shaped like pipes, symbolising the oppressing rules of our society. Others are loose, baggy and conic-shaped representing the safety of a healthy social environment. Questioning if it is better to be nonconformist, living the true innocent values of a child, or subject to society's rules in order avoid the fight and make life easier.
