Sovereign seductions

concept

The body of work entails a series of portraits that scope a various range of people who engage in alternative sexual practices. As human beings who engage in sex and have sexual appetites, typical sexual partners of the opposite or same sex do not always satisfy us. How do we lead alternative sexual lifestyles, what does that mean, and from where does it come about? As a photographer, Jai Lennars believes the best photographs tell stories and do not answer all the questions. In this series he engaged his viewers by showing them a scene which is left to be determined. Childhood is a key factor in this series as Jay derived many themes from ideas of childhood promiscuity and learning about boundaries: for them experimentation is a must and it passes through everyday activities. Childhood games and toys, food, and work stationary take new meaning in this world where satisfaction is one's only concern.
