concept

With a background in industrial design, Susanne Happle's inspiration for this collection was drawn from looking at quintessential shapes and forms. Susanne tried to find different ways of constructing bags, reinventing them from scratch rather than putting embellishments on existing designs. The techniques she used were inspired by the moulding and riveting of metal for vintage sports cars, making this collection essentially a symbiosis between industrial design and fashion. It combines mass production, artisanal handiwork, and great attention to detail. Susanne worked with the classics. The croco bag, the hat case and the suitcase. Covering them up, removing the functionality of hardware attachments and abstracting buckles and locks purely to decoration. And cutting right through them, finding new ways to access.
