Elena Rendina's photos bring us back to the aesthetics of the rock bands from the 60s and 70s. Melancholy pervades the shots. Each character is pretending to be someone that might exist only in their dreams, their desire to be someone else and fear of not fitting those clothes is clear. Should they give up? Should they run away? There is confusion, there is a desire to get out, to find an escape route. There is also a feeling of unsolved questions (are they adolescents at heart or men marked by experience?). A room becomes a jail cell that nonetheless allows the world outside to filter through its walls. An unreachable yet sought after world. And maybe a dangerous one too.
