Responsible Creativity and Upcycling: ITS Arcademy’s Studio Inspires ITS GO! Borderless Students
20 December 2024
For the third time, ITS Arcademy Studio opened its doors to students from ITS Go! Borderless for FVG Schools, hosting a creative morning focused on sustainability and upcycling. Surrounded by scraps of material and textiles, the students immersed themselves in an engaging upcycling workshop, honing skills that will be essential for the final stages of their project: designing and developing a complete outfit.
To kick off the session, we set the tone with inspiring stories from ITS Finalists, highlighting their innovative upcycling techniques showcased in their collections. This was followed by a formative talk that explored the distinctions between recycling and upcycling, emphasizing the transformative potential of creativity.
The students then rolled up their sleeves and experimented with techniques such as patchwork, sashiko, and intertwining—simple yet impactful methods that, with a personal touch, can breathe new life into unused garments.
This workshop was another wonderful opportunity to unite schools, students, and teachers, fostering a collaborative dialogue around responsible creativity.
