concept

Designer Mijoda Dajomi’s project features a series of ''headwear artefacts'' developed to function as rainwater collection tools. Through the lens of fashion these items respond to our ongoing environmental water crisis and draw attention to the importance of rainwater as a sustainable freshwater resource that we can harness. With this collection we are carried 60 years forward into a science fiction reality where freshwater scarcity is so dramatic that an order of rainwater guardians, the “Daughters of the Rain”, has to be established. Mijoda envisions a future where rainfall will be so valuable that, whenever a storm breaks, we will all rush outside, eager to collect every drop by any means possible — even through what we wear on our bodies.
