concept

A series of photos by photographer Jackie Nickerson, entitled “Terrain”, inspired Sara's collection. The series documents a typical working day of farmers in Africa, living traditionally and far away from modernism. The photos respect and value the hard physical work, the connection to nature and to natural resources. It is from this connection new aesthetics evolved. Sara harnessed elements from these aesthetics, developing them with a new, modern twist that would be relevant for today. She combined a refreshing colour palette with modest recycled materials, mostly unusual in fashion but used by the farmers, like shade cloth, thick ropes and wooden poles.
