concept
The founding pillars for the development of this project were utility and clubbing. The project is an extension of designer Kin Yan Lam’s previous studies on packaging, looking at how it can help the fashion industry to find more sustainable pattern cuts that use less fabric. This project focuses on the incorporation of upcycling feed sack fabrics collected from bakeries in Hong Kong. The pattern cutting of the leftover denim is obtained from food box packaging, and in order to enhance both the functionality and the playfulness of the outfit, the look includes a reversible long coat in denim as the key item.
