concept

The collection feels as if it were caught in a limbo between “old” and “new” worlds, united but somehow subverted to create a surreal element. Triggered by the faded, falling, and burnt nature of objects from past eras, seeking to bring these qualities into a contemporary dialogue through preservation and translucent layering. While the overall look is in a state of deconstruction, two layers make up the core shape of the collection with the transparent layer representing preservation. The collection features references of 1930-40’s cutting techniques, using embroidery as a mechanism to bind these various elements together.
