concept
Reflecting on how hard it is to supply food to earthquake struck communities led to considerations on real and fake food, drawing inspiration from the Japanese tradition of fake food and Nyotai-Mori. Fake dishes outside restaurants are quite common in Japan and are used to show customers what the served food looks like. Nyotai-Mori is the practice of serving food (particularly sashimi and sushi) displayed on a woman's body, typically naked, as if it were jewelry. Kasumi's food-inspired jewellery pieces are an exuberant exemplification of Nyotai-Mori tradition.
