concept

Sourcing inspiration from pictures of Mexican girls’ rodeos was the main inspiration for this collection. Maïa wanted to put aside romanticism to find ironic ways of wearing trimmings. She also wanted to use large amounts of fabric to overload and saturate her outfits. Looking at female icons like Calamity Jane and Frida Kahlo she worked on re-inventing cowboys' and riders' garments.
