A new t-shirt and bag for a new ITS

Every year we celebrate the new edition of ITS with a t-shirt and a shoulder bag which we then give to all our guests arriving in Trieste in July for the event. Last year we had asked David Aliperti (a crazy fashion finalist from ITS#FOUR with great drawing talent) to develop the graphics for the bag and t-shirt. He started drawing and finally came up with a series of caricatures of people he had met in Trieste together with the number “5”. In the end it worked really well, so we decided to opt for the same development process this year. We thought a while about who among the ITS#FIVE finalists could be suitable for such a task. We found the answer without thinking too long…

It was around March when we wrote Aitor Throup an e-mail asking him if he was willing to do the graphics for the ITS#SIX bag and t-shirt. Without a doubt, Aitor has great drawing talent. Journalists commenting on his work even say – and we agree – that he could easily quit fashion and commit to illustrations or graphic novels. Drawing is the starting point in the development of his garments and, if asked, he will always answer that he could easily live without fashion but not without drawing. Therefore, you can see why we thought he could be the right person for the job.

After some time to think and a few drafts, Aitor came up with a drawing which, in our opinion, captures the spirit of ITS. The guy you see in the graphics is called the “fighting guy“. He represents Aitor’s philosophy and portrays the determination needed when trying to find something new and unconventional. In the new version for ITS, it represents the fight and struggle that all new designers face. The graphics illustrate how ITS supports that fight: the big number SIX is there to help the fighting guy in his battle!

Once the graphics were ready, it was time for Diesel to step in. Besides all the help it gives us, our main partner is also responsible for the production of the ITS t-shirts and bags… and who could do it better? The ITS bag is made of super-resistant and comfortable Diesel denim made to last, just like the cotton and the finishings of the t-shirt. YKK also contributed, providing the zip to close the bag. Not only are they professionally made, they’re also limited edition! So you won’t find them in the shops, you need to be one of our guests to get one! Or you can try and convince someone who has one that they are really really ugly and tell them: “Give them to me, I’ll throw this rubbish away for you!!” We don’t think it’s going to work, though…
