concept
The collection represents stereotypes of so-called “Russianness” in a different light. It combines opposite worlds, one based on tradition and one on modernity. The traditional aesthetics were inspired by Russian national costumes before the advent of the Great Revolution. During the last days of the empire technical progress was influencing every aspect of life, including peasants’ clothing but at the same time traditional shapes, fabrics and constructions were still very strong and difficult to erase. Wanting to reflect on this shift by taking it to the extreme, mixing archaic shapes, details and techniques with modern constructions, accessories and materials.
